We had been feeding a stray black cat at our front step every day for a few weeks when we noticed that she seemed to be pregnant. Since it was starting to get colder (and we're in Canada), we brought her to our vet to check for a chip and then brought her into our house.

We kept the kittens for 10 weeks, before seeing them off to good homes - four of them in two pairs, and one to a home with nice older cats. It was more difficult to let them go than I thought it would be. We watched

happened so fast, and then it was over. There were a few days when I cried, after they had left. I miss them. But I'm so happy we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to give them a good start.

Mama Lucy will be staying with us now. She's barely out of kittenhood herself, and she was more than ready to retire. She'll be getting spayed in a few weeks.

imacoa I just learned that black cats with a white spot on the chest are considered cait sidhe (cat shee) or cat fairies in Celtic mythology. Supposedly if you are kind to them they'll bring you good luck! Looks to be true in your case!
