Sigh, a story as old as time… People keep calling themselves "not cat people", and cats just keep proving them wrong. It's not that you are not a cat person, it's that you have not met the right cat for you yet. We don't know anyone who is able to resist the fluffy cuteness of a kitten on a screen. The difference between that and real life is very, very small. It's okay though. These people can keep believing that. We don't need to do any convincing. The cats will do it themselves. 

Ask the person in this story. They never wanted a cat, never asked for a cat, never thought they would have one. And just like that, one day, they got adopted by the sweetest trashcan kitten, and that's it. That is all it took. The right cat has crossed their path, and their whole opinion about felines changed. It happened so fast and so hard that now, they not only have one cat, they actually have two.

  • It legitimately only takes one cat to change someone's minds about cats completely. People who don't like cats are people who don't really know cats, have never gotten to properly spend time with them and understand them. It just takes the one for them to see the truth. And that is that cats are purrfect.

I can have an absolutely soup sandwich of a day, but all the pain, anger, frustration, and sadness goes away as soon as I get home to my cats. Edit to add: congratulations on accepting the cat into your life! You'll be wondering how you did so long without him. Pro tip: cats are best when there's two or more.

    Fit-Presentation44 It's a slippery slope! I had my first cat at 50 years old (we rescued 3 neonates) and now I have 4 cats. Also 2 dogs. I will never give up having cats but probably won't have dogs in my 70's because it's a lot more work.

  • You see how simple it was? Got adopted by one cat, learned the truth about cats, and now, already, they have another one. Because they get it now. What they don't get yet is just how much more chaos they will have with another fluffball around. Good thing that, whether they know it or not, they will end up loving that too.

    I came a few days asking about getting my trash cat a kitten. There was an adoptathon at a local humane society so I stopped by. There was plenty of purring, friendly little gremlins but I kept looking. There was this girl. Hiding ina box, full of spice, wanting nothing more than to disappear. I reached in. She hissed and smacked me. I said "I'll take her" The lady helping me looked confused. I said "we'll be best friends in no time"
