After their family dog unexpectedly passes over the rainbow bridge, one 14-year-old girl finds love again in a new puppy that helps her celebrate Christmas for years to come

There is no pain like losing your first pet. It doesn't matter how old you are; you understand on some level the fact that a member of your family is leaving and not coming back. We were six when our first dog crossed the rainbow bridge, and it was heartbreaking. But, we would soon learn that, like all things in life, the loss of one thing makes room for another to enter. Just like our family did, they took her to get a new puppy. And just like this 14-year-old girl, we also fell in love with the new puppy, who became a lifelong friend for us as well.

Her childhood dog, Otis, passed unexpectedly, but that brought about a new pupper, 'Gir', who made that Christmas pawfectly special. In fact, as you'll see in the pictures below, Gir made all the following Christmases special for her, and that's the true power of a family dog. They help you build loving memories and make a house feel like a home. We love when our doggo gets snow zoomies. They are the cutest kind of zoomies, in our opinion. It doesn't snow often where we live, but when it does, she goes crazy. We always make sure to give her plenty of time to play, and then snuggle up under some blankets to warm up after!
