  • "CDS: I believe my cat sent me a kitten."

Hi all! I had a little kitten come into my life recently! My cat, Gravy, passed away just over a month ago on 11/13/25. It was sudden, he was only 2 years old, he had no signs or symptoms of being sick. He was fine and playing that morning, and then he was just gone.
  • I was crushed, absolutely heartbroken. I still am. I miss my little man so much.

  • He was always a social butterfly. We always joked he was a dog. He never met a stranger. He and his brother were found outside as kittens and a friend reached out to me after she found them
  • bc they needed a home. They were bonded, I took them both in. He was bold. He meowed and demanded attention. He would rub against strangers and insist they pet him. There was ZERO time to get comfortable in the house, he came in and he was immediately home.
  • Three weeks after he passed, a friend called me. It was the day after the two year anniversary of me bringing Gravy and his brother home. He had a kitten outside in the snow, loud, meowing at him, demanding attention. He couldn't take her in. He asked if I could take her.

  • Originally I said he could bring her here and I'd keep her warm and fed until I got her a home or found her owners. I didn't want another cat. Gravy passing is so fresh, one of my babies was gone. I looked for owners, posted about, took her to the pet center and didn't find any.
  • She came in and she was immediately at home. She didn't have to settle in at all. She knew where the litter box was, where the food was. She climbed in my lap like she'd known me forever
  • and laid on me and purred. She went and loved on my kids. She approaches everyone. She never stops purring super loud like he did. She even sits by my feet in the bathroom like he
  • always did. She acts just like him in so many ways, it's uncanny. I ended up keeping her. Did he send her to me? Did he come back to me?
  • TLDR: My cat passed and 3 weeks later I was approached with a kitten that acts just like him. I think he came back home. First pic: Gravy Second pic: Snowflake
  • Cultural-Ambition449 Many people don't know this but the CDS has a special division in Kitty Heaven, where kitties can paw-select a new friend for their humans. Which is what obviously happened here
  • willworkforwatches How is she and gravy's brother getting along?
  • OP heyybev Gravy's brother, Turkey (they were picked up near Thanksgiving), was a little shy at first and now they're little besties!
  • Captainsblogger My 18 year old dog died and on that same weekend, a cat turned up. Two months later that cat had a kitten on my bed. I really think my dog sent them because I needed them very badly at that moment,
  • OP heyybev This is beautiful
  • Ingfellow45 I was born in a cloud Now I am falling, I want you to catch me Look up, and you'll see me, you know you can hear me The world is so loud, keep falling, I'll find you We're over a forest, there's millions of snowflakes, we're dancing The world is so loud, keep falling, and I'll find you I am ice and dust, I am sky I can see horses wading through snowdrifts My broken hearts, my fabulous dances My fleeting song, fleeting I can hear people, I think you are near me now The world is so lou
  • OP heyybev This is so beautiful and so relevant
  • Excellent Win4546 So sweet ♥. Is she missing her tail?
  • OP heyybev She is! I don't know if she was born that way or hurt (if so, it's healed now, she has a vet visit this week). About half of it is gone!
  • farty-nein Such a very lovely story. Snowflake seems to have found a wonderful home. What was the sudden illness that took Gravy?
  • OP heyybev The vet thinks it was probably cardiomyopathy, or a blood clot. She said that's the most common reason for sudden deaths in young cats with no signs or symptoms of being sick.
  • Mollytovcocktail1111 Definitely was sent to you to help heal your heart. Welcoming in new life is such good medicine for hard grief. It's not about replacing the one that passed, it's about soothing an abruptly severed connection by having someone who needs you to care for, and you need them as well.
