'Got talked into it, and the kid did the usual, took care of the cat for a week, then I took over': Daughter convinces her dad to get a cat he doesn't want, he caves, then falls in love with it

Dads falling in love with the cats that they didn't want is a story as old as time. Seriously, we cannot even count the number of times that we have seen this happen, including when it happened in our own lives. We don't know what it is about dads that makes them so aggressively against getting itty bitty kittens to live in their houses. It seems like everyone in the house knows - except the dads themselves - that they are going to love the little creatues. 

These dads argue, they fight, they mope around, acting like being loved by a fluffy kitty is the worst thing that has ever happened to them. But then… just when they think no one is looking, we catch them. We catch these men making baby noises at cats, walking around with the kittens on their shoulders, asking the cats if they like chicken or salmon better. These dads fall for the kitties harder than the kids who asked for the kitties in the first place. Of course, most of these dads don't admit their love for the cats. So when they do… when they embrace it, we appreciate it even more.

  • Look, maybe we're projecting but… it sounds like you knew that this was going to happen. In fact, you pretty outright said that you knew it was going to happen. And that means that somewhere, deep down in your soul, you were not all that against it. You knew, consciously or subconsciously, that you were going to get a fluffy little buddy and fall in love. You basically manifested it. And yes, it is definitely one of the cutest things that we have seen.

  • This has to be one of our favorite things that happens under posts like this. One dad complains about the 'previously unwanted but now loved' kitten, and behind him, comes a gaggle of other dads who have gone through the same thing. Really, y'all should learn from the experience of your counterparts. If you truly don't want a cat buddy… then do not cave into your children's demands. Otherwise, keep sharing your stories, because we love literally each and every one of them.
