'CDS got me good this holiday season': Freezing stray cat yells at a person to take them inside, and to their surprise, 2 weeks later she gives birth to a single precious kitten

Parenting, as a cat momma, is hard work. Don't let cats' independence fool you. They only become independent when they are a teeny bit older. In the beginning, they are just as confused and curious as any other baby. And so, the momma cat has a whole lot of work to do. She has to teach her kitten how to drink water, because it's hard to do it without it getting all up in your nose. She has to teach her kitten how to communicate with humans - because it's important to make sure that humans know how to do exactly all the things that you want them to do for you. 

It's no surprise then, that some momma cats are overwhelmed with the realities of parenthood, and they choose to look for help. Papa cat is notan option, but these momma cats know who is. Oh, humans. We are too whipped for cats. If a cat comes running up to us, do we posses the ability to actually choose whether to take them or not? We probably don't. It would explain why we do it so often and with so little question. So, the momma cats come running, and we… end up with more kitties than we bargained for.

    This cat came running up to me in my parking lot, yelling at me. It was freezing outside so I let her stay the night. It wasn't too bad the next day so I let her out, but when I got home, there she was, yelling at me again.

    It's been 2 weeks of her being inside (figured I'd let her stay thru winter) and on Saturday, to my surprise, she had a baby! Just one single baby. And it is precious.

  • From the experience that we have as people writing about cats each and every day, if this ever happened to us… we would immediately suspect the cat being pregnant. Seriously, cats become different creatures when there is an itty bitty bundle of joy growing inside them. The most skittish cats, who have been afraid of humans their whole lives, might turn to a human then - in a true time of need. We would suspect, yes, but that wouldn't stop us from taking them in.
