We cannot even imagine the pain that you must have gone through losing this kitty. We would have probably reacted the same way that you did - literally not leaving the house on the off chance that the kitty might come back. We hope that these two years were not too difficult for the cat, that he was with some other family who loved him and gave him everything that he needed. Either way, he's back now, and he's safe, and that is all that matters.

And this is where the problem with indoor/outdoor cats arises. We understand the argument for both sides, we really do, but after something like this, we don't know if we would have been able to risk letting the cat out on unsupervised trips again. Get a leash, take the kitty on walks, make sure that it gets its outside time as much as he wants - but supervised. He is too old to be running around on its own out in the big world, and he just came back to you. Keep this purrfect fluffball safe.
