One escaped ferret’s rescue leads to a rehoming of two ferrets in an effort to reunite the fluffy sisters in a loving home that can care for them: ‘So everyone, please say hello to Churro and Cinnamon, the newest permanent members of our family!’

We often remark here that with dog and pet rescues, you never quite know what you are getting yourself into. This could mean rescuing a cat who moments after entering your home begins giving birth to ten kittens. it could mean saving a dog only to have imposter pawrents turn up at your door demanding you hand over the dog that is not theirs. And it could even mean the real owners of the animal you have fallen in love with after saving suddenly turning up with the paperwork proving that you are holding onto their pet property. But this story takes quite the different kind of twist in that when the heartbreaking moment came about and the found ferret's pawrent got in touch, the rescuer was not left in tears.

Well, at least not tears of sadness. For the ferret's original pawrent had decided that it was too much responsibility to care for her ferrets and seeing as the found ferret had found such a sweet and suitable home, then perhaps that ferret's sister could come and live there as well. A truly surprising and sweet ending to a story that could have gone so far in the opposite direction if it were not for the love and care of the hoomans involved.

  • Wow, that is a pretty crazy concept that we had never properly considered before. Ferrets, in their natural habitat are burrowing critters. Living in a series of interconnected tubes. Which obviously makes them rather enjoy spending time playing in plastic tubes when they are domesticated. But when you take a moment to think about it, there are so many tubes out in the hooman world, and more often than not, finding yourself within one of those tubes can be quite the terrifying experience.   • Sometimes it really feels as though lost or escaped animals are provided with some sort of guidance system which delivers them to the nearest hooman who can help them. Because just think what could have happened had this poor ferret landed on someone’s doorstep who has a phobia or rodents? Or someone who has a big and reactive dog at home? It would be tragedy for the fluffy noodle. And not only did this noodle avoid the bad, she landed specifically on the doorstep of someone who loves her kind. It is truly impressive.
