Even if she's right, she shouldn't keep saying something that's clearly bothering her boyfriend.

Is it wrong to make fun of rich kids for being rich? A lot of people have the instinct to rib rich kids because they enjoy all the benefits of wealth, even though they did absolutely nothing to earn them. They didn't work hard for their money, yet they live a luxurious lifestyle as long as their parents foot the bill. While not all rich kids get $50K cars the day they turn 16, there's no denying that the life experiences of rich kids are far more charmed than those of their lower-class peers. 

Adults are much less willing to make fun of someone to their face for being rich. There are many reasons for this, but the main ones seem to be that rich adults aren't perceived as undeserving of their money the way rich kids are, and adults are socially savvy enough to know that it's not always beneficial to make fun of people for being rich. It's difficult to tell whether someone is rich because they work hard or because their parents still send them $5K a month for "fun money" into their 30s, and it's not considered socially acceptable to discuss where people got their money. 

If you're jealous of a friend of yours for having more than you have, that's something you need to work through if you want to remain friends with that person. There's a difference between gently ribbing someone who you know won't take a joke personally and genuinely resenting someone for having more than you do.
