The January slump has commenced, and surprisingly, we're only just halfway through the month. January feels like a one-thousand-year sentence to purrgatory, and in a month so devoid of any long-lasting sunshine, we must find ways to supplement what we're lacking. What are we lacking, anyway?
We'd all be lying if we claimed that the months succeeding the pawliday season aren't some of the most difficult ones to endure. We want to make sense of that weird feeling we have deep in our bones, but we cannot pinpoint the issue. Is it that we can't go on long walks without a parka and the will of a thousand men? Are we without the drive to put on real jeans instead of the pawjamas we've been wearing for five days straight? Maybe it's a combination of everything we're doing (or not doing). Either way, we're doing more than our fuzzy felines will ever do.
I urge you to look over at your kitty cat if you're able. Look at them, sprawled out on the floor or couch, zero cares in the world aside from how many tasty crunchies are in their food bowl at any given moment. Their noses are likely a hue of salmon pink, due to the excess warmth emanating from their fluffy, furry bodies. Their paws are limp, and lucky for them, they've reached REM sleep, but you never did. Darn you, work! Why do we have to go and get this bread while our felines reap the benefits of every coin we make?
The easy answer: We do this for our felines because we love them. They bring our moods to greater heights when we feel like we're at our lowest lows, and they don't let us sulk. My own cat usually paws at my face when I'm crying, probably because it makes him uncomfortable. That's fair. I guess I should've known better.
