Beef jerky responsible for rescuing a highway runaway pupper who’d escaped her home and took her rescuers on a neighborhood chase, dog’s pawrents said: 'Rosie! How did you get out of the yard!??!’

You might not imagine that having a salty, beefy snack tucked away in your car could one day be instrumental in saving a runaway dog, but this story is sure to change your mind about that.

Much as we do not like to have to say it highway encounters with dogs are an all too common thing. Usually they involve a box in which several puppies have been placed in the inane hope that someone will somehow stop their car while going incredibly fast and take pity upon the poor creatures. But in the worst of cases, they involve a dog who has been either dumped or has escaped and is now in perilous danger.

Our story today tells a tail of the latter kind and thankfully only involves a sighting of the dog on a highway as opposed to the whole rescue story taking place next to cars zipping by at plus 100 miles per hour speeds. But what this rescue did take to accomplish was one of the more slept-on snacks that we all have a moment of craving for and then quickly forget about, the humble back of beef jerky. No longer shall you think of this simple snack in the same light again as we dive into a story of sticky, sweet and smokey aroma.

Well, of course she started barking at this clever rescuer. She probably thought they were going to head off with their delicious jerky in hand. And let’s be real, once you have had a taste of that delicious salty, smokey meaty delight, there is no going back. And you know what, this story really does make us consider the importance of having some jerky in your car at all times. Aside from obviously serving as a great snack for hoomans, it is also apparently a brilliant treat to help rescue animals.

It is really the case here that had this dog walking woman not been so doggo inclined, our rescuer would have found themselves rather alone and distraught. It is no easy task wrangling a skittish doggo, and no less so when it comes to the doggo being a runaway. Meaning that if this woman had not been on hand to help the escaped pupper could have just as easily run off, never to be seen again.
