When the wife tried to confront the mother-in-law, the monster-in-law replied with harsh words, saying that if she had been around, her son would have “never” married her and that her son was raised to choose his mother before anyone else. This left the wife flabbergasted.
She marched to her husband and demanded an explanation. He said that he gave his mother a key months ago and he was going to tell her, but he thought that she would just “come around” to the idea eventually, so he was letting it play out. She could not believe it, she was fuming. The husband, aka mama's boy, expectedly tried to gaslight her into thinking she was overreacting, but she was past the point of caring what he thought. They had invaded her home.
So when her MIL was at church the next morning, and her husband at the gym, she packed all of their stuff, put it on the porch, and then proceeded to have all of the locks changed, including the garage.

"AITA for changing the locks after my MIL broke her lease to move into MY inherited house, slept in my bed, boxed my clothes, and my husband said I'd 'come around'?"

Of course, when the MIL and husband came back, they were furious! They wanted back into “their” house, but the fact of the matter was, it was not their house. The wife owned the home, it was under her name alone, and they could do nothing about it.
They called the cops, and they told them the same thing. Who's being the overdramatic ones now?
Now, that side of the family is constantly reaching out to her, calling her names, and trying to convince her she's being heartless. But it's easy for everyone online to see that it was the MIL and husband who were very much in the wrong. She dodged a very fast object coming straight for her house, if you ask us.
