Memes are the cherry on top of the sundae that is the internet. It's the thing that we don't necessarily need, but things would feel empty without them. They're a little extra fun to make the day just that more bearable. Ah, to be a cherry on top of a hot fudge sundae. To be deliciously red, round, and primed to be plucked from atop your world of cream. The cherry is a beautiful gesture, really. An indulgent and completely unnecessary thing on top of another indulgent and completely unnecessary thing. But the sundae would look incomplete without it, mounds of ice cream cascading into nothingness with no true focal point. Sure, we love to rollick in its rolling hills, but we need the silent sentinel of the cherry to remind us that there's life there. And yes, what a good life it is. We need memes around to make life a little more interesting.

Sure, we could exist without them. But would we want to? What is the point of a life without a little extra fun? Imagine if you had gone your whole life without seeing a meme. I personally couldn't imagine mine. The trajectory of things would be totally different. What would I have laughed at with my friends on the school bus? What would I have sent to my mates in 7th grade to prove that I was funny and cool? What would I look at on the internet all the livelong day?

Good thing we don't have to imagine our lives without memes, because we're not living in that reality. There is a lot that I would change about our reality, but I wouldn't change that. Memes give us a little bit of meaning. They make us remember that there is silliness to be had and goofs to be goofed. We love to get lost in their depths, and that's what we're here to do on Memebase. They will start coming, and they won't stop coming. I promise. It's our singular goal in life to keep bringing you more memes, and we don't intend to disappoint.
