Massage therapist spars with entitled customer after she gets an extra free 15 minutes: 'If you were a good massage therapist, you'd [...] make sure I'm taken care of'

Next time you get a massage, take a moment and be grateful for the amount of unnecessary nonsense your masseuse probably has to deal with on a regular basis.

This massage therapist thought she had a concrete process that would avoid tense interactions with clients. Whenever she was taking on new customers, she always spoke with them in advance to get a sense of what their expectations and preferences were. She wanted to know more about any tension they're experiencing, if they're having any pain, and how physically intense they wanted their massage to be. Generally, it sounds like this process works well for both her and for the vast majority of her clientele.

However, that was not the case when it came to this particular client. After they had their pre-massage, everything seemed good to go. Both parties appeared to be on the same page about what the next hour and a half would be like. However, just to be sure, the massage therapist checked in with the client every 15 minutes or so throughout the experience to ensure that she was receiving the kind of massage she wanted. When she did this over the course of their session, the client responded favorably with verbal agreements that this was what she wanted.

By the end of the massage, the therapist decided to gift her client an extra 15 minutes on the house. She announced this to avoid any confusion about payment. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to appease the client. When she got up from her massage bed, her entire demeanor changed in an instant.

We have to hand it to this lady for refusing to allow the customer to make her feel inept. After all, the massage therapist has utilized the same process for all her clients and never dealt with this level of entitlement before. It was as if this lady shifted gears as soon as that free portion of the session had wrapped up.
Several members of the online community weighed in and praised the massage therapist for standing her ground and refusing to give this client a discount. In fact, the free 15 minutes were already more than generous. Who knows what this woman had dealt with before, but let's just say it seems like this is the kind of person who cycles from one massage therapist to another with an eternal sense of dissatisfaction.
