I found out I no longer have a job from a Facebook post.

The business I work for posted a "we're closing our doors for good in five days" post, attempting to entice customers for one last blowout bash. That's the notice I got. No discussion in person beforehand. No phone call. No text. Nothing in the scheduling app. I work tonight, tomorrow, and the day we close. WTF?

Commenters gave their stories and takes.

abarua01 I once got a job at a brand new company and I was there since day 1 when it opened. They went out of business in less than 2 months and I was notified by email

XavierScorpionlkari Original Poster's Reply That would have been better than a finding out on a Facebook post.

soulure Could it just be a false advertising ad? Double check before you jet out lol

XavierScorpionlkari Original Poster's Reply No. This bar has been going down hill fast. They didn't pay our karaoke guy last Friday. The poker guy's partner called and said someone was coming to collect his equipment. And the owners stopped doing bingo three weeks ago.

BacupBhoy There's been a few cases here where staff were sacked by text. I'm sure it was Costa Coffee done it to all their assistant managers. It's a shit way to tell staff they're out of a job.

MarsRocks97 If you plan on working to the end. You need to insist on wages paid daily.

whattheputt954 I got fired by coupon once. I managed a Honeybaked Ham when I was 20. We received coupons to hand to our customers that said "This location closing after Christmas" It was the week before Christmas. December 24th was my last day. Still enjoy their smoked turkey, but that corporate entity can genuinely consume a satchel of richards.

killmesara A similar thing happened to me once. It sucks. You will qualify for unemployment if the business closes.

XavierScorpionlkari Original Poster's Reply A business of less than 20 employees? In Florida? Not so sure about that.

-NotAnAstronaut- You won't see pay for those shifts. Might as well just spend that time looking for a new job.
