  • A garden gnome peaks through foliage.
  • "Neighbors kid keeps coming into my yard to 'play' with my garden gnomes"

I have a small garden in my front yard with about a dozen garden gnomes that Ive collected over the years.
  • Theyre not expensive but I like them and they make me happy. My neighbors kid (maybe 7 or 8 years old) has become obsessed with my gnomes.
  • At first he would just look at them from the sidewalk which was fine. Then he started coming into my yard to move them around.
  • Id come home and all my gnomes would be rearranged into different positions or "scenes." Sometimes theyd be lined up in a row, sometimes in a circle.
  • I thought it was kind of cute at first but then gnomes started disappearing. Ive lost 4 gnomes in the past month.
  • I saw the kid playing with them in his own yard once. I went to talk to his parents and they said "theyre just decorations, whats the big deal?" I explained theyre MY decorations and their kid is taking them.
  • They talked to the kid and he returned 2 gnomes but claimed he "doesnt have" the other 2.
  • The parents basically shrugged and said kids will be kids. I asked them to keep him out of my yard and they said "its a free country" and I cant tell their kid where he can walk.
  • I put up a small decorative fence around my garden and the next day the kid had knocked it down.
  • His parents said the fence is an "eyesore" and I should remove it. Im so done with this family.

  • TheGypsyThread Turn on the sprinklers and watch momma come over to yell at you
  • jackman924 Have a "come to Jesus" discussion with them and tell them they have a choice to make: teach your child about boundaries and stealing or you'll proceed with contacting the police...everytime the kid comes into your yard. And place a few "no trespassing" signs facing the neighbor's house.
  • allthecircusponies It may seem over the top, but you can always call the non emergency line for the police to report the theft. Also, get a camera for your yard, perhaps some motion detection sprinklers.
  • Tasty_Sample_5232 It's a free country for police reports, surveillance cameras, and encounters with interesting things, by the way... Garden gnomes aren't cheap (at least from a moral value standpoint).
  • LeftHandedFapper It's a free country? They sound like 5th graders. I would be much angrier about someone coming onto my property without permission
  • MYOB3 Those aren't parents. Those are accomplices.
  • Cheddar Cheeks 709 maybe security camera time tbh if the kid keeps sneaking in you need proof for when things escalate
