Companionship is an incredibly underrated cornerstone of life, and this story tells the tale of just how impactful and important companionship was in the life of a senior pupper who needed a fellow canine to spend the rest of her days with.

Doggos do not ask for much from us, mostly because we cannot understand them, but also because they are a humble bunch. They are usually rather content with the food, cuddles and treats that we give them. With the occasional surprise treat like a steak or a slice of cheese thrown in there for good measure. But when your doggo comes to you with begging, pleading eyes and asks for something, would you be able to understand what it is they want?

We would certainly find ourselves scratching our heads, and start searching for a dog translation app, but the pawrent in this story knew exactly what her elder doggo wanted in her sunset years. Somehow, likely through their deep bond, this pawrent knew that her pupper was lonely, and while she loved her pawrent, she needed someone in her life who knew what it was like to be a doggo. And without any hesitation, this pawrent leapt into action, scouring the local adoption options of a compatible canine companion. This is a tale of true pawrent-pupper love and one that we hope will inspire all dog owners to show their aging puppers the love and support that this pawrent has for hers.

  • We have to say that this is some pretty high level pawrenting right here. To look at your pup of 17 years and see that they are off is already one thing. Many people would chalk up a change in behavior to old age. But then to know exactly what it is that your pupper is seeking is seriously sweet. Like how intune with your doggo do you have to be in order to know exactly what they need and then to be humble enough to accept that you cannot fill that need yourself and the only one who can is another dog that gets what it means to be a dog. Oh the heights we still have left to reach.

  • It is wild how intensely grateful and elated this pupper was for her new friend. But it is rather reasonable when you spend your whole life limited by a language barrier between you and your pawrent, never quite able to express exactly what you need and want. And then for your pawrent to so pawfectly predict what it is that you were looking for all this time is pretty wild. If we hoomans were put in the same situation we would likely be just as elated to feel seen and understood so deeply.
