After a really tough day, it feels really good to go into a vegetative state, scrolling on your phone like a lab monkey and turning your thoughts down to a simmer. People think too much during the day, with highly stressful jobs, the pressure of the future, parenting drama, friendship tension, and insistent family visits bearing down on their shoulders. The world is stressful enough without all of the overthinking that comes with it. Although it may not be the most conventional way to power down aggressive thinking, an uplifting meme scroll could be just what you need to bring your heart rate down from the ever-present fight-or-flight response of modern living.

It's impressive that we have intricate societies, technological advancements, interwoven lives, and that nagging sense of curiosity and the great beyond, but every now and then, we need to unplug from the cuckoo pace of the speedy world and dissociate a little bit. Our minds can only handle so much chaos, and it seems that lately, we have no shortage of tension, stress, and mayhem on our screens. Although many have become jaded over the presence of memes in our lives, there was a time when a simple meme wasn't more than a cave drawing on the forums of the internet.
