One woman was working as an administrator for a nonprofit when she realized that there was more she could be doing to help with her workload. In her own time, she devised a tracking system for the various duties she had to keep on top of without telling anyone at work what she was doing.
When her supervisor noticed that she was working more efficiently, she asked her what she had done to change things up. She showed her a version of the program she was using, which was then passed on to the leadership team.
Management was impressed and wanted to roll this out to the entire department, but she refused to do that without having some control over proceedings. Coworkers felt like she was gatekeeping, and she wasn't sure if she was asking for too much.

Am I wrong for not handing over a system that I built on my own?
