'I never thought my heart would soften so much for a dog': A former dog skeptic forms an unexpected bond with her parents’ affectionate American Bully and discovers they're a dog person after all

They never saw themselves as a dog person, but this doggo changed their mind.

This person never expected to bond with a dog at all, let alone a bully breed. They weren't really a dog person before moving back home, and they carried a lot of hesitation shaped by what they'd heard about these dogs. Living day to day with their parents' American Bully slowly changed that. Spending hours together showed a completely different reality: a giant cuddle bug who just wants to be touching someone at all times.

With work happening at home, they became his main daytime companion. He follows them from room to room, climbs into laps, and settles in like closeness is the best part of his day. Before this, he spent much of his time crated due to busy schedules. Now he has company, and it shows. He's calmer, softer, and deeply attached to the person who shares those long quiet hours with him.

A Christmas stuffed cow sealed the deal. This is a dog who normally shreds plush toys in seconds, but he treats this one like a treasure. He sleeps beside it and carries it around proudly, waiting for someone to notice so he can show it off. Watching such a strong dog handle something so gently changed everything. He didn't force his way into their heart. He cuddled his way in, one ordinary day at a time.

Puppy dog eyes should honestly come with a warning label. The second a dog looks at you like that, every plan you had goes out the window. That stuffie is way too cute, especially knowing how gently he treats it. A dog carrying around a favorite toy like it’s precious never stops being adorable. It turns a tough-looking pup into a total softie in seconds. Seeing him sleep next to it like it’s a little treasure makes the whole thing even sweeter. Nothing is cuter than a big dog insisting he’s a lap dog. Size means absolutely nothing to them. If there’s a lap available, they’re climbing in like they were built for it. Watching a giant dog fold himself into someone’s arms with total confidence never gets old. They don’t see a problem, so there isn’t one. It’s just pure affection wrapped in a lot more dog than expected.
