'Kama is more like a son': Lonely wild pig gets adopted by Hawaiian man after stumbling into his campsite; he teaches his "son" to surf and makes him vegan

It's a good thing the saying isn't "when pigs surf" because apparently that's not as far-fetched as it sounds. In fact, for Kama, it's a daily reality.

We thought we had seen it all when we reported on a doggo surf fest, which held a competition between pawfessional surfing puppers. And then we were surprised by finding a cat who loved to surf, and we said to ourselves, "This is the craziest animal we never thought we would see on a surfboard". And then, we came across Kama, a pig who got the nickname "the surfing pig" because he goes surfing with his dad every day, and now we're sure that we've officially seen it all.

Kama was a lonely wild pig who wandered into Kai's, his future dad's, campsite one morning. They quickly became friends, and Kama just never left. The two go everywhere together, and Kai said that Kama is more like a son to him. "It's very unusual for a man to have a pig as a friend", one of his friends said, but to us, it looks perfectly natural. Not because they're friends, but because they're family.

We'll never understand people who think pigs aren't cute. They're adorable. They're like slow, sassy dogs that have a big belly. Kama knows all the tricks that a normal dog does, and more. He sits patiently while Kai brushes his teeth every morning, he rides in the front with Kai while he drives him around, and he even cuddles with him every night (this isn't even talking about the fact that he's learned to surf as well as any human).

That one spark of curiosity changed Kama's life forever. He took a chance on a kind guy, and he gave him the world. Call it coincidence or call it fate, but whatever it was, it's downright adorable.

We can't even surf. We're not sure even with private lessons that we could learn, and yet this pig learned how to do it easily. We didn't even know that pigs liked water, but it makes sense because they can't sweat, so in a hot climate like Hawaii, they must need to cool off in water frequently to avoid overheating. There are worse lives to live than a surfing pig, we'll tell you that much.
