Dog who jumped out of moving car window at 60mph on Georgia interstate found after 12+ hours of searching hanging out by a house next to lake, mom says: ‘Overall I think this is the best possible end to one of the worst possible vacations.’

If you ever wondered if your pup would be capable of leaping from your car window while on a highway, then this story will be your warning sign to make sure your doggo is strapped in while driving.

It really does come as a surprise. There is a long tradition of cracking the window of a car to allow your doggo to stick their head outside and enjoy the breeze as you fly down the highways of the world. But as you will come to find, this might be a tradition that is worth putting to bed, at least in its current form.

While it is important to allow our doggos to be comfortable while riding in the car with us, their safety and security is far more important. And so in the future it might be wise to get your doggo a seatbelt harness to make sure that they are not at risk of randomly jumping out of the window you have so thoughtfully cracked for them. After all, everyone, cats, dogs, even us hoomans can fall victim to our intrusive thoughts.

  • Erm, well, wow, that is about the last thing we would have expected to read today. Dogs are pretty darn smart creatures, but sometimes, much like their cat compadres, they succumb to the potent power of intrusive thoughts. And from the sounds of it that is exactly what happened to this doggo who most certainly knew better than to jump from a moving car. Though from the sounds of it he was not harmed as a grueling eight hour search would not have been necessary if he had not survived the fall.   • In situations like this it is often said that the uncertainty is what gets ya, and from the sounds of it, that uncertainty is sitting on this pawrent. Which of course is completely warranted considering how concerning it must be to be apart from your pup for such a relatively long time under such circumstances. But at the same time it is clear to see that they have not given up hope, they are not letting go of the idea of finding their pupper and that is all that you can ask for when there is nothing else to hold on to.

    UPDATE 2: We received a text and a message in the local fb group that he was spotted alive at 7 am walking along the side of the road searching for us. Finding that out just improves things so much, knowing we don't have to keep checking the ditches
