Do you think cats know when their furever human comes along?

To say that humans are the ones who adopt their cats is quite a false statement, and cat owners would probably agree. Most of the time, the cat is the one who adopts the human, and they sure do not make it easy. We are pretty sure that cats have a very clear system they must follow before they allow themselves to get adopted, and no one knows what it is or how it works. All we know is that cats do everything to ensure that they end up in the right time and place to get themselves found by their forever humans, and they do not take that, or anything related to the cat distribution system, lightly. 

How many people do you think a stray kitten sees pass through before they select the one they want to spend the rest of their lives with? How many people do you think the tiny 4-week-old kitten in the story below let walk past him before he decided to chase the person who would later become his loving pawrent?

We will never know the answer to these questions, but at least we know that whatever calculations go behind a cat's choice, and the workings of the cat distribution system, they must be working.     belldancer Original Poster's Reply Unfortunately, his sibling passed before I could get to them. It still saddens me that I couldn't save them both, but I am so grateful that the universe brought him to me. I didn't think I would have any more cats after my two 15 year old fur babies passed in 2017, but the universe had other plans. He is a precious and very well loved boy.

    belldancer Original Poster's Reply He's the only cat that I've ever had that hauls all my shoes and boots around. It's hilarious. I have to keep the closet closed or he will have them all over the house.

    morbidconcerto Omg I have a flame point that I also found at only 4 weeks old and she was only 8 ounces! She grew into a very entitled little bottle baby and when she was about 2 we got her a cat buddy (also a CDS) and she has mellowed out a good bit.

    belldancer Original Poster's Reply It definitely takes a lot of time, love and devotion to care for these babies, while they are so young and fragile. When I first got him, I rushed him to the county vet only to be told they wouldn't treat him because he was less than a pound. So I took him to a regular vet. He had worms, parasites, an upper respiratory infection and eye infection. I had to feed him a mixture of milk for kittens and a special wet food. I had to give him subcutaneous fluids which

  • We can't help but wonder how many humans were passed over by our beautiful calico cat when she was a stray. We found her wandering in our backyard, but how many backyards has she visited before she landed in ours? How many people have tried to win her heart before she let us know she is ready for a forever home?
