Retired widower once known as the "grumpy old man" finds friendship in neighbor's pack of Alaskan malamutes: ‘[He] would come over once a week to give my dogs treats that he bought specially for them’

Not even the grumpiest neighbor can resist a pack of friendly floofers like Alaskan malamutes.

Every neighborhood has that one cantankerous old man who will yell at you for parking incorrectly, your fence being three inches above the HOA regulations, or some other seemingly inconsequential reason. Most people ignore him, or write him off as senile, and are convinced he's set in his grumpy ways.

We get it, we have enough things in our lives to deal with than trying to convince an ornery widower to learn to love again, but what might happen if you put in that little bit of effort? Today's story teaches us that you might just turn him into a dear friend and your doggos' newest bestie. Everyone warned her about him, but she saw that underneath that hard shell, he was full of life and love.

He became fast friends with her pack of puppers, even coming over once a week to give them treats that he went out and specifically bought for them! If that isn't the cutest thing you've read all day, we're not sure what is. She goes on to say that she "would often make too much dinner and bring it over to sit down and eat with him". We're not crying, you are.

A little kindness goes a long way, especially to the ones who need it most. There may be a lot of bad news going on in the world, but stories like this give us hope for humanity. It's also another reason why you should adopt all the fluffy doggos you can; they're great at turning grumpy old guys into sweethearts.

We can only imagine that a retired widower doesn't have much to do during the day, so we just think it's too wholesome that he drove to a pet store, picked out treats he thought they would like, drove back, and then went over to give the puppers their tasty presents. This is why we love dogs - they're the ultimate ice breakers. They want love from everyone and don't care how closed your heart is. You can bet that they will do everything pawssible to wiggle their way in and make you love them.
