Employer confirmed £50k salary in writing, then paid £32k instead – now being made redundant. Do I have a claim?

Just to put it into perspective for those of us across the pond, I did the math. £50k is roughly $67,583, while their lower salary is £32k, or $43,253. Let's get that out of the way so that we're all on the same page, and check out what happened next.

Here's where things take a downturn...
Uh oh! Did this worker just accidentally receive someone else's salary package? Was it revoked because they're in another city and working remotely? This is the part of their story that makes people raise an eyebrow, because it sure sounds like the bosses are telling them straight-up that their salary won't be on the higher end after all.

People had some pretty serious questions for this person
Such as, why wasn't this called out before months of low-paid paychecks piled up? That is an awfully long time to be accepting a lower pay than promised… 10 full pay periods, if they're paid twice per month.

What a shame! This person's post was swiftly deleted, as was their account, so we may never get an update. It seems like they very well may be stuck with that lower salary. It's not the worst salary ever, but hopefully they can find something that actually makes their dream salary a reality! I can't imagine having that higher salary in mind, only for it to be torn away from you. Whether it was an error or a miscommunication, we still plan our lives around our salaries, so I do feel for this person.
Of course, working remotely will save any worker a lot of money. No commute means no putting gas in the car or relying on transit. Eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner at home will save you tons of cash, too! Not to mention the benefits that aren't monetary, like spending extra time with your spouse or kids. Keep your head up, pal — there's still a silver lining here.
