See, this is the first big waving red flag. The moment the nurse started keeping Granny from family visitors, things started to get suspicious. Although the live-in nurse is aware of fluctuations in health and mental acuity, it's still unusual to be monitoring family visits, especially from the younger ones in their 20s trying to see their dear ol' Meemaw.

When the nurse started wearing her grandma's old clothes, that was one thing, but the jewelry is a complete other story! Clothes are a simple gift, as grandparents can grow out of the size or style quite easily, so giving away clothing makes more sense (still suss, but regardless); however, the jewelry, especially an engagement ring, isn't something Grandma would have gifted.
Actually, a family heirloom isn't something a nurse should ever be messing around with, polishing or otherwise.

Honestly, I think the family is just being lazy about finding Grandma some better care. While I agree it's hard to find good help for the elderly, this nurse was far from “good” and actually exhibited a lot of troubling and worrisome qualities. She didn't deserve to stay in that house another minute, let alone be on the family payroll any longer.
Once you burn the trust with your hirers, you've burnt the bridge.

And this certainly isn't something that a 24-year-old will soon forget. Now she'll be looking over her grandma's shoulder for the rest of her days, wondering if she can trust the shady, selfish nurses watching over her. It's hard to repair that kind of trust in humanity, but luckily, this young woman got a crash course in character discernment before it was too late.
