This woman was astonished to discover that her boyfriend had been maintaining a spreadsheet where he rated every single dinner that she cooked with him. She felt offended that he thought this was acceptable, and it seemed like he would have preferred it to stay a secret as well.

It is only natural to have personal preferences when it comes to what we eat, even if we have the privilege of somebody else doing the cooking for us. Still, that doesn't mean that we have the right to get overly judgmental when it comes to a loved one making dinner for us.
If you are not totally satisfied, it is possible to give tactful feedback without being too obsessive about it. Sometimes, people have no choice but to live with those meals that they don't like so much as well. There is also the crazy option of cooking your own meals and tailoring them to your personal preferences. Millions of people manage to do that for themselves almost every day, and it works for them.
Long story short, ratings are generally not a good way to define somebody's cooking, or the relationship outside of that. Even if they remain private, they start to make a connection into a checklist in a way that isn't helpful.
