As humans, we have the unique ability to have a highly evolved thought process that includes philosophies, discussions, and processes. Though it doesn't feel like many of us use our brains at all… But it's true, we have this ability. Only humans have this ability. So when some of us think about motherhood, it is a beautiful experience that is viewed as one-of-a-kind. To animals, however, like a dog, it is not understood that way.
This foster mama wants to make it very clear that when you separate a dog from their puppies after the appropriate time of being together, it does not devastate the mama dog. In fact, she's excited to be able to be the baby of the family again. Of course, there is a certain number of weeks that the doggos have to stay together, but after a certain amount of time, they all deserve to be the babies of another loving family.
Long story short, get your dogs spayed/neutered!

"Mommy dog said, 'SOS GET ME OUT OF HERE!'"
-
“I foster full litters of puppies and usually they don't have mommies, but occasionally they do. And people are like, “oh my god, it's so sad [that] eventually you have to split the mommies from the puppies, I bet everybody is just so upset!” And my question to you is, have you ever met a mommy dog?”

“This is my dog, Molly Moo cow. She was rescued only days after she had had puppies. Doesn't she look so ‘happy' and ‘excited’ to be there with her puppies? Just a mommy and her 'mommy glow.'”
-
-
"She used to get on top of the dog houses because it was the only place that she could go where the puppies couldn't get her. They'd be like, 'Mommy, we need to nurse.'And she'd be like, 'Mommy needs a break.'"

“She was a good mom. She was with them for the whole eight weeks before they got separated. This is her day one at my house after separation. Devastated. Can't stop crying. Oh, she's just beside herself.”
-
-
“I'm fostering these little guys right now and they are obsessed with their mom. And you know who can't wait to get the heck on up out of there? Mommy dog. She said, 'I can't do this, there's too many of them. I don't wanna be here anymore.'”
-
-
"They're still trying to nurse from their mom even though they're like 6/7 weeks old and there's not really any milk left. It's just as like a comfort thing at this point. I swear to god, the white one went up, tried to latch on, and she donkey kicked his BEHIND to the other side of the yard. She said, 'that's not for you anymore.'”
-
-
“I think that people have projected this thing onto dogs where they're like, ‘oh, they get to have their own babies. I bet that they love it!' They don't.”
-
-
"You know what they love? They love being the baby. She wants to be the baby. The puppies are trying to get in my lap. She's getting them by the scruff, pushing them off, and saying, 'heckl, no, it's my turn!'”
-
-
"Get your dog spayed! Let them be the baby."
