3 sisters decide to keep their late father's house so his elderly 21-year-old cat can live out his retirement days in a familiar place, and the reaction online is so wholesome: 'His Royal Furriness is napping in the sun'

Doing something selfless for a cat is one of the purest ways to show kindness.

We always say that cats are like family to us and that we would do absolutely anything to make them happy. It is usually things like giving our cats the wet food that they love the most. And it is buying our cats cool cat trees, even though they generally prefer the boxes they come in. And it's getting our cats cool toys, even though they care about them maybe ten percent of the time. It's about spoiling our cats in every way that we can - any way that would keep them happy.

But even with all of that, we don't think that many people would do for their cat what these three daughters did for their father's cat. After his passing, they got their father's house - and the cat that lived in it. The simplest solution at that point would have been to rehome the cat and decide what to do with the house afterwards. But that is not what they did. They decided to truly treat this cat like family. They decided to keep this house on - keep paying or it, keep maintenance of it - all so that their father's elderly cat could live his retirement in the space that he is used to. And that is what we call kindness.

We don't think that there is anything more beautiful that you could have done for your cat and for your father. We know that he is looking down at you and that he is proud. We don't think that many people would have done this. Even people with the means to do it probably would not have seen it as important enough to keep paying for the house “just for the cat” that is living there. But it is important enough. It's the cat's peace. Taking him out of that house at the age of twenty-one would have most likely been detrimental to his health. It's difficult for a one-year-old cat to move, let alone a cat who has spent its whole life living in one place. We cannot tell you how thankful we are to you.

The fact that they are coming to stay with him, spending time with him and giving him at least a little bit of the company that he was used to is so, so important as well. We are sure that this kitty is going through loss just as much as they are, and going through something like that alone is always difficult.
