Bingwa, the 4-year old St. Louis Zoo cheetah, has more than just lived up to her name. "Bingwa" in Swahili means "champion" and what a more than fit name for the new mother of 8 cubs! What makes this so amazing is that, this is the first time a cheetah has given birth to eight adorable cubs at a zoo! Quite the accomplishment! (The average litter size is three to four cubs)

According to the St. Louis Zoo, Bingwa is already a perfect mom for her three boys and five girls! She is on loan to the zoo from Wildlife Safari in Winston, Ore. The father, 9-year-old Jason, is on loan from White Oak Conservation in Yulee, Fla.
"She has quickly become adept at caring for her very large litter of cubs — grooming, nursing and caring for them attentively," Steve Bircher, the zoo's curator of mammals/carnivores said.
The amazing mother of 8 is actually just visiting the zoo from Wildlife Safari in Winston, Ore. The cubs father is 9-year-old Jason, who is also on visit from White Oak Conservation in Yulee, Fla.
The world's fastest land mammal is racing toward extinction. And sadly, there is estimated that only 7,100 of the big cats remain in the wild. So this is huge and exciting news for the big cats around the world!
