Dog who escaped grandfather’s garden in rural Texas found living with senior neighbor five months after going missing, resulting in tearful reunion and a promise to help the neighbor find: ‘A sweet dog just like mine’

One of the last things you'd expect is to be promising the person who found your lost dog that you will help them find a dog of their own. But that is exactly what happened to this pawrent when she found her pupper with a local senior citizen.

It is no big secret that dogs are great at lighting up the lives of those who come into contact with them. And if there is one group of people who particularly perk up in the presence of doggos it is the more senior citizens amongst us. Perhaps it is something to do with these puppers' power to put a smile on any hooman who comes their way, or it is simply a side effect of their awesome energy, but whatever it is, it changes their lives significantly.

And that is what happened to one lonely lady who found a dog one day in rural Texas. Little did she know this dog was lost and that his pawrents would soon come to take him home, little did she know that soon the very thing that lit up her life would be gone. Thankfully, this pupper's pawrents were kind people, who offered the senior citizen all the support they could give to set her up with a pupper who would actually be her own.

It is rather hilarious how you can give a dog all the land in the world to roam around and run in, yet when given the option to break out of that confined area they will leap at it no matter the consequences. But them be the breaks unfortunately and even more so unfortunate to have this kind of thing happen just as you are in the middle of a house move which is tough enough to manage. Also, poor grandad, he just thought he had a bit of light dog sitting to do, not a whole search and rescue mission to take care of.

Dang, these things are tough. Senior citizens often have a tough time with the loneliness they find themselves subjected to, and we cannot imagine how heart-filling it must have felt to have a dog walk into her life just when she was likely at her lowest. To have all that love and energy come bounding into your world when you needed it most, only to have it then taken away again just as you had found yourself living well. It is unbelievable how impactful a doggo can be for the wellbeing of hoomans.
