Have you ever wondered what your life could’ve been like if your parents were lowkey famous? Not even A-list, just enough that your name carries enough weight for everything to be… easier.
Because same.
You’re at work, pretending to understand what’s going on in a meeting that absolutely could’ve been an email, and your brain just drifts. Like what if instead of this, you were “working on a project” that nobody fully understands but everyone supports anyway?

Not in a delusional way. In a very calm, grounded, deeply necessary coping mechanism way. Imagine waking up and your only real task is deciding how visible you want to be that day. Maybe you post something vague and artsy. Maybe you don’t. Either way, it counts as staying “active.”
You go out, have some brunch with your equally nepotised friends, perhaps take a Pilates class together, you work on a project that's probably going to make you loose money. You go home, take a nap and have some drinks with your pals at night. Life is good.
Meanwhile, you’re over here rewriting the same sentence three times so it sounds professional but not too aggressive. It’s a different world.

Nepo babies just exist with a level of ease that feels almost fictional. They say things like “I’m taking time to figure things out” and people nod. You say that and suddenly it’s a whole conversation about stability. And the thing is, you’re not even asking for that much. Just a little cushion. A little safety net. The ability to make one bad decision without it spiraling into a five-step life crisis.
Like imagine quitting your job and it being… fine. Imagine trying something new without calculating every possible outcome first. Imagine your biggest worry being whether something aligns with your “personal brand” instead of whether you can pay rent. But lets not get all depresso here. I'm sure a New York Nepos don't know the subway like I do, the lore in there goes crazy. Private chauffeurs don't come with that much lore, huh!

It’s small things. Really. And yet, here you are, carefully scheduling your lunch break like it’s a high-stakes operation, acting like stepping away for 30 minutes might collapse the entire company. That’s why these memes hit. Because they’re not really about wanting to be someone else. They’re about wanting things to feel just a little less intense, a little less all-or-nothing.
And if the easiest way to process that is by joking about being a nepo baby with zero responsibilities and a vague creative career… then honestly, that’s valid. At the end of the day, you’re still showing up, doing your job, surviving the emails, the meetings, the “quick calls.”
But mentally? You’re somewhere else entirely. Probably “taking time off” to focus on yourself.
