It always saddnes us to hear about cats being rehomed - once, twice… Moving with a cat is hard, going to the vet and leaving the house for half an hour is hard. Changing their entire environment and the humans who are in it must be devastating. It is a miracle that this cat did not lose his trust in humans after such experiences, that he was willing and open to be loved by you. And it is just as amazing to us that you took him in in the first place. Because that is not something that happens often, not with rehomed cats and not with older cats, and it is not something that we ever take for granted. Thank you.

It's amazing how stable our cats are in our lives when everything else is uprooted. We know that you're getting to experience this for the first time now, and that is beautiful in and of itself, but we have experienced this our whole lives - with the cats we've had since our childhood. It is one of the reasons we think it is so important to have pets, and cats specifically, when growing up.
