"He’s 4 years old — rescued as a stray and from a feral colony that was apparently bullying him.
Less than twenty four hours since I brought him home, and he’s already starting to become affectionate/interactive.

It's always the sweetest cats who get bullied by other cats. It's always the nicest cats, the ones who don't fight back. It's always the prettiest cats, the ones who attract the most humans, the ones who, because of that, connect with humans more than others. Chances are that we would have tried to pet this little dude too if we had seen him outside. We would have tried to become his friend, without thinking about the potential consequences for him.
There is no telling how his life would have turned out, as a shunned cat, if you had not found him and taken him in when you did. The fact that he was so eager for love and cuddles proves that he was never meant for a life outdoors. If you didn't save his life, then at the very least, you saved his soul, and that is worth just as much.
