Sometimes cats just decide it's time to run.

Cats get random zoomies like something inside them just said "go" and they listened immediately. No buildup, no warning, just a full sprint out of nowhere. You could be sitting there in total silence and suddenly there's a cat flying past like rent is due.

It's never at a normal time. Middle of the night, early morning, right when everything is calm. That's when the energy hits. They start running like they've got somewhere to be, but they absolutely do not.

There's no logic to it either. They'll run in one direction, stop, turn around, run back, maybe add in a jump for no reason. It's like they're making it up as they go. Very committed, though. Whatever the plan is, they're sticking to it.

You just sit there and watch like this is normal. Because at this point, it kind of is. Nothing to do but let it happen. Then it's over. They slow down, sit, and act completely fine like they didn't just sprint across the entire house for no reason.

Cats will run around like crazy until you wake up. Full speed, nonstop, like it’s the most important thing in the world. The second you sit up or open your eyes, they’re done. Suddenly calm, just sitting there like nothing happened. It’s like the whole thing was just to get you up. Mission accomplished, they move on.

If only there were an off button for zoomies. Just one quick switch and everything goes quiet again. No random sprints, no late-night running, just calm. It would make things a lot easier. But of course that’s not how it works. The zoomies show up whenever they want, and you just have to deal with it.

Only cats know the schedule for their zoomies, and it’s never shared. Somehow it always lands at the worst time, like 4am, when everything is quiet and you’re fully asleep. Then out of nowhere, it’s a full sprint. They seem very sure about the timing, even if it makes no sense to anyone else.
