Cats can have a pile of actual toys and still decide the real fun is everything else. You bring home a brand new toy, maybe something fancy with feathers or bells, and they go straight for the box it came in. That's the main event. The toy itself barely gets a glance.

Paper is a favorite too. A crinkly receipt, a random wrapper, even just a piece of cardboard on the floor suddenly becomes the most impurrtant thing in the room. They'll bat it around, chase it, lose it, find it again, all like it was planned.

There's no logic to it. You can spend money on the nicest toys, and they'll pick the one thing that cost nothing. A stray string, a bottle cap, something you didn't even notice. That's the toy now.

They go all in too. Full focus, full energy, like this random object is the greatest thing they've ever seen. You just sit there watching like okay, guess we're doing this. The actual toys are still there, untouched, waiting their turn. They'll get to them eventually… maybe.

The box is always better than the actual toy. You can bring home something new and they’ll go straight for the packaging like that’s what you meant to get. They’ll sit in it, play with it, and completely ignore what came inside. It doesn’t matter how nice the toy is, the box somehow wins every time.

Cats will drop a toy right in front of you and just sit there waiting like it’s your turn. They don’t go after it, they expect you to. You toss it, they chase it once, then bring it back and repeat the whole thing. It’s basically fetch, just with different rules. They’re in charge, you’re just there to keep the game going.
