It's like the rep is picturing the cat sitting down and watching in-flight TV while having a snack and a soda

"And where will the cat go?" Girl.....

No problem! It's over!

You know what, at least they came to a resolution!
Sometimes you have to talk things out and explain them as simply as possible.
I think some customer service reps get totally overburdened with information by a lot of their customers. They get a customer's full life story, while also trying to figure out what the customer is actually asking for, and what their problem even is. This person was very nice to try and explain it a few different ways.
If we're being so real though, I think a lot of passengers really would want their pet to have it's own seat, if possible, but airlines don't seem to care for that kind of thing. This customer service rep must've dealt with some pretty wacky demands in her day!

People thought this whole misunderstanding was really funny

Very odd!
-
Who would even care if the cat was in the seat? It would be in that seat in a bag, not like, strapped in with the airplane seat buckle
