Clever mama-cat-to-be breaks into a hooman's home, surrounding herself with warmth, love, and safety just in time for three newborn kittens: ‘[She] set up shop under my bed’

This mama-cat-to-be didn't wait for purrmission or a formal invitation to this hooman's home, she knew she needed a safe, warm place to give birth to her litter of kittens, but she didn't expect the love, compassion, and the overwhelming sense of belonging she felt when entering this person's house.

Feral cats, especially, are smarter than your average house cat.

Forced to be both a survivalist and a cunning predator, cats who have spent their entire lives outside are resourceful, clever, and remarkably resilient, embodying all of the traits in cats that every cat lover admires. Those are some hardy little animals! Considering the perils and the drama of the outside world, many cat lovers seek to bring every outdoor feline they see inside, because when you see such a precious animal out on the street, it's hard to resist the urge to give them a warm, plushy, loving home.

There are other times, however, when cats choose to come indoors without warning.

Almost a week ago, this stray cat broke into a person's house and took refuge under their bed.
They didn't have a cat, nor did they ever expect to be cat owners, but this purrsistent feline decided otherwise. What the hooman learned over the course of their first few days together, was that this cat was more than just a random kitty off the street, this cat was soon to be a catmama herself.

It's truly heartwarming to be chosen and trusted by another living creature.
Not only was this mama cat originally only looking for a place to crash to have her kittens, but in her survivalist mode, she stumbled upon a human companion so kind and so lovely, she decided she never wanted to leave. Love has that effect on all living things. We crave it, we dream of it, and if we're lucky, we might just stumble upon it in the wee hours of the night, sneaking into a kitten litter nest under our bed.
