Update: Washington man cuts down neighbor's 100-year-old tree, causing thousands of dollars in damages

An opportunistic neighbor has left a huge mess on someone else's property. 

Washington state is full of trees, and people travel from all over the world to get out in nature. The whole PNW is known for just that — sprawling acres of ferns, and thousands of trees, many of which are hundreds of years old. 

However, thanks to the audacity of this person's neighbor, there is one less old tree soaking up the sunlight. As this person shared, their father's passing led this neighbor to take action to get rid of a tree, but the whole interaction has turned into a total "disaster," as they put it.

    If you look for law firms specializing in trees and property, they are likely to see this as a potentially sizable case and could actually assist you in getting a certified arborist to estimate the value of the tree.

    My partner is a forester, specifically managing large scale sitka spruce plantations, and I showed him your pics and asked what the value of the wood would be when sold, and he actually just laughed. 

    According to him because this guy has cut the wood into "non-standard product lengths" he has rendered it effectively worthless. Says it's basically either chip or 100 year old firewood now, which is even more pointless as he says nobody burns sitka.
