"My sister is leaving her cat alone for two weeks"
Hello! I am looking for some advice on what to do with my sister’s cat.
My sister is going on a trip to Asia and won’t be back for 2 weeks. She’s been living with her cat for about a year now and has been in and out the country multiple times. Usually, when my sister does leave, my mom will stop by her house every day or every other day to feed and make sure she has fresh water.
The issue is that, my mom has also gone to Asia with my sister. This leaves me to take care of Alani. I (19) live about 30 minutes away from my sister. (almost an hour with traffic) and I work full time in office, basically 7 days a week. (I work really off shifts like 9-6, 10-7 and take on a lot of shifts) and I also have 3 cats of my own to take care of.
I have brought Lani around my cats and she does not do will with them (I introduced her slowly to them but she would always end up running away and hiding or even hissing as people approach her) and I can tell whenever she is here, she’s extremely stressed. She will also end up staying in the spare room while shes here (since she doesn’t do well with other cats) and that room is quite small. I feel really guilty leaving her there all by herself all day. To me, it’s not different from leaving her in a big apartment for two weeks.
I have thought about temporarily living at my sister’s apartment until she comes back but that kind of commute everyday will not work well for me 😅 Plus, I have no one to take care of my 3 cats...
I’m not quite sure what to do in this situation, or which one is best. I do not want to stress Lani out, but it’ll be quite difficult to go between my house and my sister’s house everyday especially considering the gas prices nowadays.
Is it better for Lani to stay with me for the two weeks, see if she could end up socializing well with my cats? Or do I take the financial hit and go back and forth to see her everyday. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!! 🐈

Gosh, poor kitty! Good on you for caring more about your sister's cat than she does. Your sister should be paying a pet sitter or boarding her cat, neither of your current options are good for you or kitty.
I would personally keep the cat in my spare bedroom. She deserves attention and somewhat to watch out in case something happens. It’s been demonstrated that cats, in fact, do not do well alone and that they rather change territory and have someone with them… I can’t imagine my cat alone for two weeks. She’d go absolutely ballistic even if she knows the place. -

The internet comes in with swooping advice for her. Yes, the distance is a huge issue. No one wants to spend hours on the road just to feed a cat at home alone. Plus she can't take the cat home due to her other three cats, but the solution is there anyway. The spare room can be the sister's cat little sanctuary while she's away.
