[Am I wrong] for taking the better desk after my coworker refused to compromise?

My team is being reshuffled and my coworker and I have to switch seats. There are only two options: one is clearly better (against a wall, more private), and the other

Our manager told us to figure it out between ourselves. I asked my coworker if I could take the wall seat, and he said he wants it. Fair enough. So I suggested we flip a coin to make it even-he refused because he "doesn't want to risk it."

For context, he already sits in a wall seat right now. I currently sit in a more open area, but it's still somewhat tucked away, so this change would be a downgrade for me. Also he's been there 10 months longer than me.

Since he wouldn't compromise at all, I went to the person who currently has the better seat (they're leaving) and asked if

they could let me take it once they're gone. So my plan is just to come in tomorrow and sit there.

Now I'm wondering if that makes me the a lole. I did try to make it fair, but he shut that down completely. At the same time, I know I'm kind of just claiming it now.

AITA for taking the better seat instead of just accepting the worse one?

socalbiz . What was the other persons solution? Like what was there preferred method of deciding who gets the seat? It does come off to me has a little bit, "We will settle this my way or I just take it" - an offer you can't refuse situation. Does the other guy have any ideas on how to break the stalemate?

Viking Tec⚫ They decided it was fine for them to just decide. So I would presume it's first come first served.

However, be prepared for them to throw as fit about it. Bodes well for working with them in the future hah
