  • McDonald's deciding to bolt their changing tables shut.

  • I asked the workers up front and they said it was a corporate decision. Yet, they have a play area for children!
  • Update: I emailed corporate business integrity and asked if this is an official McDonald's corporate policy, and if McDonald's actually supports or requires disabling baby changing stations in customer restrooms.
  • Commenters gave their takes on the story.

ExplanationOverall83 They never worked to begin with. Kept getting the same kid back
  • ItsMrChristmas Zero chance that was a corporate decision. Franchise did it. Send this to corporate and they will handle it. Furthermore, this is a real "landlord repair" way of handling it.
  • GilmourD I can guarantee you that corporate didn't pay to have somebody rivet a sharp plate to close that shut when they could have paid the same to just have somebody remove it.
  • That's manager or franchisee doing that and corporate probably wouldn't like it.

  • Embarrassed_Use6918 It's changing consumer habits you see
  • Cool-End4831 I would rather change the baby in my car anyways. Too many weirdos go to McDonald's and who knows what they do on that changing table.
  • ManSharkBear Time to include a prybar in the diaper bag
  • Westcoastswinglover Well I guess the solution is to change them in the play area then. (No not really) What a terrible decision.
  • bazfum No usable changing table in the men's room meant you get a diaper change in your dinning room when mine were that age. Fast food managers hate this one weird trick
  • atomicblonde420 McDonald's is so trash now. They removed everything self serve, it looks so empty and sad now
  • Bitter-Whole-7290 McDonald's really doesn't seem to want customers inside the restaurants anymore.
  • hapax--legomenon Wait you telling me that you can just change your baby in mcdonald's if you don't like it and get a new one?
  • PureRely In case you have not worked a customer-facing job before, companies do not make decisions like this just to upset people. Once changing tables are installed, companies are usually not thinking about changing them unless there is a reason.
  • The only reason a company would revisit something like this is if people were using the changing tables in ways. they should not be. After enough complaints from employees or guests, especially if there is a safety
  • concern, the company may feel it has to take action to prevent the problem. That is how you end up with situations like the one shown in the image. The real question should be: "What was the public doing with these changing stations that made the company take this action?"
  • I guarantee it was a small group of people who ruined it for everyone else, like it usually is.
  • Heatsincebirth Send the picture to McDonalds corporate office with a complaint. Not only will they get it fixed they will also send you some pretty nice coupons.
