i'm over the moon about this so i'm still gonna keep gushing about it so time to tell a buncha people on the internet.
  • 03
about three weeks ago a notice was sent out by our property managers about a potentially lost

orange cat. there was a box and food occasionally left out and during the evening you'd hear a

    cat meowing around the property.
  • 08
neither me or my partner saw anything until this past thursday. i saw her while walking our dog
  • 09
and returned alone to check if she was still there.
  • 10
she was. she let me approach her and she was very skinny. there was a little bit of food but it
  • 11
didn't look like she was getting enough. i went to go out more food out there and sure enough,
  • 12
she started to follow me. i ate my dinner outside on the balcony to keep an eye on her and
  • 13
eventually she let me pick her up and we let her explore the area.
  • 14
my partner and i were initially going to keep her outside until we could schedule a vet
  • 15
appointment, as we have a cat and dog already. i led her back to her outdoor setup and went back
  • 16
to where i was sitting. i spend a fair amount of time sitting outside and not too long after
  • 17
she came back to my side of the building meowing even louder.
  • 18
i kinda knew it was over for us and asked my partner to crate the dog and put the cat in the bathroom. and now she's here.
  • 19
she's lovely. we're thinking she was dumped by a former or current tenant, given she's been
  • 20
wandering around meowing on the property. she can use the litter box, she's very social to me
  • 21
and my partner. she's fine with the cat and she's wary but curious about the dog. my first cat was feral when i got him and it's been a stark difference.
  • 22
vet said she's in good health, albeit underweight. probably about 6-8 months. we're getting
  • 23
her spayed next month. my partner called her cricket the first time they interacted cause she
  • 24
chirps and purrs super loud. she's not microchipped and i've browsed the local lost pet groups.
  • 25
we're in a position to take her in and she's such a sweet little girl.
  • 26
we've wanted another cat for a while but we had a few factors as to why we weren't going out of
  • 27
our way to get one yet. but we had already agreed if something like this ever happened, it was
  • 28
over for both of us. we are huge cat lovers. she will be well taken care of. welcome home, cricket.
