Family dog and 3-year-old bond at bedtime in front of mom; wholesome moment goes viral: 'It made my heart throb'

Bedtime cuddles are best when shared with the family dog. 

A mom was reading her 3-year-old son a bedtime story when he insisted that the family dog hop up onto the bed with him. Cuddling, snuggling, and ready to snooze, the boy dozed off with a soft dog ear in hand, hot dog breath on his shoulder, and a best friend snoozing next to him. Normally, the mom would urge the dog to leave the boy's bedroom, but in this peaceful, blissful parenting moment, she decided to let these two best friends have a sleepover in the most wholesome way. 

Dogs don't usually realize the effect they have on our human lives. 

Oftentimes, canines come into our lives by chance, but they leave paw prints on our hearts, slobber on our souls, and a pup-shaped imprint on our laps. Without the family dog, who would bark at the mailman? Who would snore on the couch? And who would cuddle during our REM, dream-state hours without a care in the world? 

Snuggling doggos are warm, they're cozy, and they make their humans feel protected. Safe and warm in their beds, dogs may hog all of the cover and drool on the sheets, but sleeping next to your best friend is a proven to be good for your soul. I just recently started allowing my own dog to hop up on the bed with me. Before, when he was a puppy, he wasn't allowed up onto the bed, simply because of habitual reasons. But now, my 6-year-old dog, Murphy, is welcome on the bed anytime. He may steal all the space, stiffen his legs, and have the occasional doggy nightmare, but hearing the soft, snoot-muffled snores of a dog will make any canine lover sleep like a baby. 

Or in this case, it'll make them sleep like a 3-year-old boy with a new best friend and a core memory in progress.
