Good guy saves baby bunny after stray cat drops it in the middle of a busy road, giving the tiny floof a second chance to live his fluffiest life: ‘He already accepted [my] jacket as his rescue pouch’

Would you risk your life on a busy road to stop traffic for a baby bun like this one?

Maybe it's because we grew up watching Disney princesses being friends with forest critters that we have such a strong affinity for animals. We dreamed of being able to sing or whistle into the wind and call all the wild animals to us. What would we do with them? Who knows. Have a tea party, just sit and chit-chat, or maybe just have the most wholesome cuddle puddle you could imagine. It's also why we love rescue stories like this one from Reddit's r/aww subreddit, where a wholesome dude saved a baby bunny from not only a stray cat, but a busy road with cars zooming perilously past the tiny bun.

What's important here is the ending: he let the baby go after it was all healed up. Wild animals are just that - wild. They belong outdoors, and as cute as he is, he belongs with his rabbit family and not cooped up in his house. All that aside, though, we want to give him a big congratulations for giving this cutie a second chance and living his best floofy life. Be free, soak up all this cuteness, and have a great weekend!

  • This baby bunny is super adorable, but also very wild. He's very different from the bunnies that are bred for being pets, not only in size and shape, but also in personality. Rabbits are naturally skittish, but wild rabbits are pretty nervous around everything, whereas domesticated rabbits have been bread for thousands of years to tolerate human touch and affection. Just like any wild animal, you should not intervene unless absolutely necessary, and always consult with professionals before handling them with your bare hands. 

    If we don't put this PSA, we know you're going to go around trying ot pet foxes and baby birds. We know how tempting it is, but don't do it. You might end up doing more damage than good (also to yourself).

    birdwingsbeat Cute, but PSA for everyone else - do not save baby bunnies unless you can see they're gravely injured. If they are, call a wildlife rescue. The bunny is very likely not abandoned or lost and it's mom will return soon. It's also illegal to intervene with bunnies in many states.

  • Personally, we would never own a bunny. We like visiting and petting other people's bunnies, but they're just not the pet for us. Not for the reasons you might think - the main one is that they can be incredibly sassy. You never see it coming because of their fluffy demeanor, but it's very pawssible.
