Making the decision to finally quit your job is definitely not an easy thing to make. There is usually a lot at stake. Money, routine, co-workers; and let's be real, the fact that you even have a stable job is a reason enough nowadays to make you doubt if you should actually leave it. The job market is quite hard, and the thought of even attempting to start another job search journey exhausts you by only thinking of it. The struggle is real. But sometimes, in order to thrive, you must experience a tiny bit of struggle along the way. Job hunting is the worst, but you know what's worst? Waking up to a job you absolutely despise every single day. There is something weirdly haunting about trying to quit your job. Besides the obvious questions one makes like, 'Is this truly a good decision' or 'Will I find something better than this?'. Trying to leave your job can feel as impossible as leaving your toxic ex. You know they are no good for you, you know you deserve to be treated better, but that's all you know. Knowledge can become familiar, and familiarity can easily disguise itself as something good. Truth is, familiar is not always good. Sometimes you need to step outside of your comfort zone, wander through the new unknown paths life may put you through, until one feels appealing enough to deep your toes into it, taste the land and see if it's solid enough for you make it familiar again.

Quitting is a very permanent decision, but really, nothing is ever final. When I was a teenager and, as every teen does, everything felt extremely tragic and dramatic; but my mother used to say this to me in times of uncertainty or decision making: "Ines, you close a door, and another one will open.". So you might feel like closing this big door might be the a terrible decision, but truly, in order to change one must make space. Declutter to bring something new in.
