27 Really Cute Reasons to Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

There is a reason that the expression 'To let sleeping dogs lie' has become a renowned turn of phrase in the English language. Because it accurately describes a situation in which inaction is the best course of action. But the phrase has become commonplace throughout the years, and often people furget that it was inspired by real events.

Events such as a thief trying to steal from a farmer who might have had a whole heap of guard dogs sleeping on his property at night. And after attempting to steal from said farmer, our thief learned all too quickly that they would have been far better off if they had indeed let those sleeping dogs continue to lie in their place and found themselves a different way to steal their chosen item. But as pawrents we know that there are millions of reasons to not wake our sleeping puppers, and pretty much all of them have nothing to do with theft or guard dogs.

After all, one of the cutest things our canine kids do is nap away the day. They lie there all peacefully dreaming of their next squirrel chase or play time with their pupper pals and rest up for their next grand adventure. But there are several more reasons than just that which would stop a pupper pawrent from waking their sleeping fur baby. For one, sometimes they wake up wild, with far too much energy and adrenaline in their system to handle and within seconds you end up with a pup zooming around your home with no control. Conversely you could just deeply displease your doggo with your inadvertent wake up call leaving you open to potential 'gifts' stashed around the house. Well, obviously you would not dare to wake up such a sweetly sleeping creature. Heck, even if your boss whom you cannot stand were to be found sleeping in such a sweet slumber as this pupper, you would think twice about exacting your vengeance. As you have likely come to understand by this point in the list, doggos are some of the sweetest sleepers in the animal kingdom. Something which might be attributable to the fact that they have very active and likely vivid dreams. There is no pawrent amongst us who has not enjoyed the pleasure of seeing their pup kick the air in their sleep as though chasing after a squirrel or heard our pups giving off little sleep grunts to ward off their dream nemesis. It’s so darn cute and you simply cannot get enough of it. So we hope you get your fill of fluffy sleeping puppers if you are not yet in the pawrenthood phase of your life.
