Person finds the "neighborhood cat" they've been feeding badly injured, unable to move her hind legs, saves her life and decides she'll never live on the street again: 'I've put up climbing surfaces since she can't jump right now and she's using them!'

Neighborhood cats are pawsome. But what if something happens to them? Who do they turn to for help?

Neighborhood cats. Really, it's enough to say just that for cat people like us to know exactly what we are talking about. These cats are so precious to us. They live their best lives outside but make friends with people in the neighborhood. These cats get spoiled by all the neighbors - with pets and with food. They get the best of both worlds - being a spoiled kitty loved by humans and an independent catto who still watches over their territory every single day. We love our neighborhood cats. But one thought - one concern - always crosses our minds. What if something happens to them? Who is there to help?

The answer is us - the neighbors. If a stray cat is injured, it is our job to help the cat. And if it's the neighborhood cat, a stray cat that you have bonded with, who has bonded with you, who knows you, then it is even more your duty to help them. Some neighbors would look away, but that can't be everyone. Someone has to step up. And shourapyro69 on r/cats did.

As cute and relatively spoiled as neighborhood cats are, their lives are, in fact, more difficult than those of a house cat. And if they get injured, they will not be able to face the harsh conditions of the outside world. Not forever. Maybe this kitty would have survived some time without help, but it wouldn't have been forever. This person saved her life. And the kitty rewarded them by… well, just by deciding to stay. She is no longer the "neighborhood cat". She is no longer a stray. Now, she is a properly loved and spoiled housecat.

Without her hind legs functioning properly, she probably wouldn't have lasted very long outside. We cannot thank you enough for taking her in, for giving her a home and a proper place to heal. Thank you. Thank you so, so much.

Now, that is one happy cat. It's difficult to get a stray cat to become an indoor cat sometimes. The outside world calls to them. But once you do, once they feel that soft, soft blanket one time, they have a very good chance of not going back outside.
