85-year-old neighbor hacks down neighbor's beautiful hydrangea bush without their permission: 'We are obviously devastated'

What would you do with a neighbor who disrespected your property?

Neighbor relationships are not always easy. Sometimes you just don't see eye to eye, and it ends up ruining everyone's day. Maybe you tried to be nice at first, but incidents just continue to occur, and then before you know it you're wondering whether or not you should call the authorities. That's where this woman ended up after waking up to a pretty interesting situation in her garden. She shared her story to a gardening subreddit focusing on hydrangeas, and commenters had a lot to say about it. When you work hard to have a garden you're proud of, you want to do anything to maintain it. It can be a fickle thing, so you're careful about it, and you try not to make too much fuss. But then boom. Tragedy strikes. Sometimes, it's unavoidable. The fates just weren't on your side at this particular moment. But other times, there was foul play. In this instance, something was deeply afoot. There were malicious actors waiting in the wings to seize the opportunity of this garden, and they took it. Then you end up wondering just what you can do to pick up the pieces. The person in this story was deeply hurt, since they loved their garden so much, and the way it was ruined was pretty hard for her to swallow. So she shared her frustrations on the internet, where commenters gave ideas on how to move forward.

In fact, she trespassed into my back yard yesterday to inspect my container garden, and then mentioned it to me after the fact while critiquing what I need to "fix". I have a camera back there but there is a lot of wildlife and the sensor gets set off, so I don't always look in the moment.

  • It could be dementia, but it could also be an entitled a hat who has lived there forever, who thinks they own the neighborhood, and who has no respect for property or boundaries. It's hard for me to speak up for myself and confront people, but I told her under no circumstances to ever enter or touch my property again or I'll be calling the police.

A Gardner did this to the hydrangeas long time ago at a house I was renting, and they came back thick the next year. * I don't know about your HOA, but ask if you can throw some native wildflower seeds in the patch and they might come in faster and look pretty.
