Normal kitten is born giant, keeps on growing, and prompts his owner into wondering if they have a regular cat after all
There are actual stories out there of people adopting kittens that are completely normal, only for them to turn out to be something completely different. We've seen people accidentally adopt pumas. We've seen people accidentally adopt Pallas' cats. That's the thing with kittens… They all look quite similar. But small differences do exist. And those small differences could be all that stand between you adopting an actual house cat and a wild cat.

Michigan’s polydactyl kitten Toby ties a Guinness World Records mark with 28 toe beans that no feline has matched since 2002
You might consider rare and unique cats a specialty of ours here at I Can Has Cheezburger. We've seen cats with the most stunning eyes, the strangest fur patterns, abnormally large cats, seriously smol ones, felines with extra ears, cats that love to swim and even surf, and everything in between. But none of them were world record holders… until today.

After losing their soul cat, a lost kitten reminded this pawrent of Artemis, but they didn't know if they could open their heart again
Anyone who spends time scrolling through Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem subreddit knows unexpected cats have a funny way of showing up at just the right moment. The only catch is that the "right moment" doesn't always feel convenient. Sometimes life gets complicated, and an unexpected little visitor arrives with a decision that's much harder than it first appears.

Stray orange kitten causes chaos in a store for 4 hours before finally getting caught, and he gets punished for his crimes by getting instantly adopted into the purrfect family
Every once in a while, we encounter a "normal" cat adoption story. You know, the kind where a person walks into a shelter, carefully looks around and chooses the one kitty who feels right to them. This happens. But it's actually not normal at all. The most common way that people adopt cats is not by walking into a shelter and choosing one. No, it's actually the complete opposite. It's the cats who choose their humans, not the humans who choose the cats. Seriously. Ask a cat owner. Chances are that the story they will tell you will be a lot sillier.

A lot of cat owners could probably relate, but my worst fear right now, as I'm looking at my precious 11-year-old senior cat napping in the spare desk chair beside me as I'm typing this, is having her cross the rainbow bridge. And I know, logically, that 11 is not that old for a cat, that she might have many, many more happy and healthy years in front of her, but… Anytime would be too soon. Tomorrow will be too soon. Ten years from now would be too soon.

Cat distribution system chooses grieving mother and son after a tumultuous year when father crosses rainbow bridge, they are gifted with tiny companion to help them heal
Grief is a mysterious character. He shows up out of nowhere when we least expect it. It's not just about crossing the rainbow bridge, or a betrayal, or something specific. It takes many shapes and has to do with any type of loss, which life is always full of. In Reddit's r/cats, the unthinkable happens. A man's life is turned upside down when his father passes away. He has to relocate from Florida to California with his mother who just lost the love of her life.
